What to Wear??
So first of all... Everybody is different. Family pictures should reflect your family and your style. Choose clothing that reflects what you would normally wear! You can choose to go formal, casual or somewhere in between, but any way you go, you need to be you!
Color choices need to be complimentary but not all the same print, color or style. Find colors that compliment each other and keep it to 2-3 main colors for your pictures. And most of all, make sure they are colors that look good on your family and that you will be able to look at in 5 years and not think… What were we thinking? :-)
Choose clothing that flatters you. Nothing worse than having to worry about sucking it in or hiding those knees you don't like... Make sure the clothing you choose is flattering both standing and sitting.
Avoid huge prints that distract from the real subject of the photo... YOU. And don't pick the same pattern for everyone. If everyone wears a red and white striped shirt, the picture becomes less about you and more about the red and white stripes!!
Watch your shoe selection. Yes, your feet will be in many pictures. So wearing those flip flops may not create the best look you want. Bare feet look good in some locations and with certain outfits, so make sure your feet look good too!
Fix your hair and have pins etc in case the day ends up windy or humid. Weather is not always predictable in Oklahoma, and a little hairspray will help keep your hair from blowing away on our windy days.
Makeup is good. No makeup for girls is bad. (Not talking about little children…) I'm not saying you have to look like Mimi... but wear some and keep it subtle. Don't wear anything with heavy glitter... it just reflects back and looks weird.
Keep your jewelry simple. Don't need big flashy jewelry detracting from your picture or causing weird light bounces.
Glasses are kind of a pain. If you insist on wearing them, know that there may be a glare in some of the pics. I do my best to avoid these., but unfortunately, it's not completely avoidable.
